Today in Saida: A Peaceful Sit-In for Dignity

Today in Saida: A Peaceful Sit-In for Dignity

There’s a crisis the world barely talks about.

In Lebanon, hundreds of thousands of Palestinian refugees live without fundamental rights. They rely almost entirely on UNRWA — the United Nations Relief and Works Agency — for survival.

Today, in Saida, southern Lebanon, my Palestinian brothers and sisters in the diaspora are holding a peaceful sit-in near Ain al Hilwe camp, beside Lebanese army checkpoints. Their demands are not political. They are human.

They are calling attention to:

  • The suspension of UNRWA’s Social Affairs Program leaves thousands without support

  • Patients are being denied hospital care because they cannot afford treatment

  • School mergers have created overcrowded classrooms, with 40–50 students per class

  • The erosion of fundamental rights — healthcare, education, dignity

This is not about politics. It’s about survival. It’s about dignity.

Please don’t scroll past their story. Let’s amplify their voices.
